RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017

Series 1 - Episode 1

There are only eight show gardens on Chelsea’s main avenue this year – last year it was 17. Even so, expect to be transported around the world with gardens reflecting horticulture in Spain, Japan, Mexico… and the Norfolk marshes. Chris Beardshaw returns with his third garden at Chelsea, a design featuring a central oak loggia in which the National Youth Orchestra will be playing, while Radio 2 has five Feel Good gardens designed to enrich the senses, relax the mind and calm the body. Sophie Raworth and Joe Swift get a sneak peek of all the exhibits before the event opens its doors tomorrow.

New series. Sophie Raworth and Joe Swift present a sneak preview of the Royal Horticultural Society's prestigious annual event 24 hours ahead of the showground officially opening to the public. They showcase some of the most spectacular gardens and exhibits that will be featured in this year's show and go behind the scenes with the RHS staff as the event is prepared, revealing the huge amount of work that goes into getting everything ready, with just three weeks from initial set-up to the first visitors arriving.
