Catastrophe

Series 3 - Episode 1

Review

Catastrophe ended series two with Rob (Rob Delaney) open-mouthed (and uncharacteristically silent) in the family living room after stumbling on evidence suggesting that Sharon Horgan’s Sharon had been unfaithful. The first episode of series three kicks off at that precise moment and maintains its viscerally funny punch with every line, packed with the familiar ebullience that has you rooting for them all the way. Because while the jokes are as snappy and scabrous as ever, the key to this series remains the warmth of the central couple’s cocoon of intimacy in the face of whatever life throws at them.

This series those missiles include a suggestion that jobless Rob is returning to the drinking that we all assumed he had finally left behind - just as Sharon’s teaching career looks like it is on the up.

Summary

New series. Return of the comedy about an Irish woman and an American man's relationship, written by and starring Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney. Rob picks up where he left off at the end of series two, with an unexplained receipt for the morning after pill and a lot of questions for Sharon. Too drunk at the time to remember what she did, she dodges his interrogation and goes to see Nico perform with his band to find out the truth. The issue is unexpectedly forced when one of the kids has an accident.
