Scotland, stronger in theory than they have been for more than a decade, are surely capable of beating France, in what would be their first win in Paris since 1999. That match still has the power to thrill, with the Scots scoring five tries in barely 20 minutes. Scotland went on to win the Five Nations on points difference, becoming the last side to win the tournament before Italy joined the party.
It’s safe to say the Flower of Scotland has never looked quite so blooming since, but there is hope today, with Jonny Gray formidable in the forwards and Finn Russell calling the shots from fly half.
Summary
France v Scotland (Kick-off 3.00pm). Gabby Logan presents coverage from the Stade de France in Paris, where the second round of fixtures reaches a conclusion. France have gone from being regular title contenders with an emphasis on the unexpected to being also-rans in the last few years, and they finished fifth in the standings in 2016, when they also lost to Scotland at Murrayfield. That victory for the Scots was their first in 10 years over Les Bleus, but their losing streak in Paris goes back much further, to 1999. With commentary by Andrew Cotter, Chris Paterson and Ali Williams, and analysis by Mike Blair, Andy Nicol and Thomas Castaignede.
