Before the Six Nations begins, every coach delivers the same stock answer that the only match they are thinking about is the first one. It’s rubbish. The Six Nations, like any good tournament, has its critical moments, its crunch matches that every coach needs to be ready for. Make no mistake: Wales v England is one of those fixtures.
Wales’s new captain Alun Wyn Jones will have an easy job now; no Welsh player needs any extra motivation when they face England at home, especially given that they have lost the last three Six Nations matches against their rivals across the Severn Bridge.
Summary
Wales v England (Kick-off 4.50pm). Coverage of the second match of this year's tournament for both sides, as the fierce rivals face each other at the Principality Stadium. England have gradually asserted some authority over Wales in recent meetings, winning four of the last five clashes, with their only defeat in that time being in the World Cup pool match at Twickenham, when Wales were outplayed for most of the encounter before snatching victory in the latter stages. Presented by John Inverdale, with commentary by Eddie Butler, Brian Moore and Jonathan Davies, and analysis by Paul O'Connell, Martyn Williams and Jeremy Guscott.
