Review

Having blown ITV’s Saturday schedule out of the water with Strictly, the BBC is hoping to do something similar with this Gary Barlow-fronted talent show. He’s looking for individual singers to put together as a boy band that’s not totally unlike Take That in a new stage show.

There are live auditions, public votes and celebrity judges, but none of the humiliation and nasty six-chair challenges of X Factor. Remembering Barlow’s stint as an X Factor judge, you know this will be a warm, encouraging affair. Mel Giedroyc is backstage to soothe the nerves of the bakers – I mean contestants – and hopefully adding a dash of impishness to all this niceness is host Graham Norton.
