Review

It’s not often that a contributor to a documentary becomes its subject, but there’s an arresting moment in this episode that lands paramedic Preet in A&E herself. It’s completely unexpected and unpredictable – precisely the nature of the work West Midlands Ambulance Service do in coping with the 3,000 emergency calls they receive every single day.

Patients vary from a toddler suffering seizures to a drug addict who has a suspected collapsed lung, and with ambulances kitted out with fixed-rig cameras and paramedics wearing bodycams, it would be impossible to get a more intimate or privileged look at what goes on inside an ambulance without actually being there.

Summary

Emergency workers rush to the aid of a man who is struggling to breathe after injecting himself.
