You know how politely restrained Antiques Roadshow audiences tend to be, those people who stand behind the expert and the hopeful treasure-seekers? They might laugh knowingly, they might clap politely. Well all that changes at Walmer Castle in Kent when someone gleefully yells “Bingo!” at a massive valuation.

The recipient of the good news simply looks stunned, as does another lucky winner later in the show (there’s clearly cash in Kent). His audience goes “Oooh!” and “Wow!” while he can only utter a strangled “Gosh”.

The show is packed with goodies, from Beatles Royal Variety Performance memorabilia to some bold and lovely costume jewellery by a Hollywood designer.

Summary

Fiona Bruce presents the show from Walmer castle, Kent, and is challenged to identify a valuable 18th-century glass out of a collection of reproductions. Other items brought in to be valued include a rare pottery piglet, a revolving table with secret compartments, a British PoW's diary, a set of French fashion illustrations from the 1920s, a table clock and a collection of Victorian ceramic birds.
