Strike Back: Legacy

Series 5

Review

It’s a whole new theatre of war for the men and women of undercover military outfit Section 20, as the knock-’em-sock-’em action drama returns for its fifth season (you wonder if Richard Armitage ever regrets dropping out after the first series). Strike Back now turns its attention to south-east Asia in a first episode that could give the likes of Jason Bourne and Ethan Hunt a run for their money.

The daughter of the British ambassador to Thailand (a haunted-looking Tim McInnerny) is kidnapped just as he is entering complex talks with the North Koreans in Bangkok. He’s an old friend of Section 20 head Philip Locke (Robson Green), so cue our heroes Stonebridge and Scott (Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton) going all Apocalypse Now as they try to rescue her from nasty piece of work Max Beesley – but who’s pulling his strings? It’s breathlessly paced, with some seriously well-choreographed chase sequences through Bangkok’s canals and alleyways. Welcome back, guys!

Summary

The daughter of Thailand's British ambassador is kidnapped, so Stonebridge, Scott and the rest of the team sign up for another do-or-die trying adventure.
