Review

Becky, 59, is brought into hospital with a suspected stroke. Her husband Ray tells staff she fell out of bed at 5am and he couldn’t rouse her, so she lay there for three hours: “I was frightened, I didn’t know what to do,” he wails.

Considering every minute counts after a stroke, the medics and neurological experts keep their thoughts to themselves, particularly when it emerges that Becky routinely drinks nine pints a night. Elsewhere, 19-year-old Georgia, who fell 20 feet onto concrete trying to get into her flat after locking herself out, is determined to get up and leave, even though doctors try to persuade her to keep still or she could end up paralysed.

Summary

Becky, 59, is rushed in after a suspected stroke, and medics are concerned she may have had a bleed on the brain. Georgia, 19, locked herself out of her flat and lost her balance trying to climb through a second-floor window, falling 20ft on to concrete. She's sent for an urgent CT scan with possible spinal injuries. Meanwhile, 88-year-old Edith is kept under observation after collapsing at home.
