The Judgement of Man

Series 3 - Episode 10 The Judgement of Man

An exhibition of valuable religious art at the Belvedere Museum, curated by Binkie Cadwaller (Gimme Gimme Gimme’s James Dreyfus), causes a flurry of excitement in Kembleford. An attractive journalist (Anna-Louise Plowan) even arrives to interview Binkie about it. But Father Brown is more worried than excited because he’s spotted his old adversary Flambeau (John Light) skulking around. And sure enough the painting is stolen.

Not that it’s the first time that’s happened – the Nazis had looted it from a Jewish family. Dreyfus camps it up as the flamboyant curator, although he’s completely straight-faced when he delivers a dubious line about his exhibitions: “My openings have always been fondly remembered.”

The priest becomes embroiled in an audacious art heist masterminded by his adversary Flambeau, who intends to use Father Brown and his friends to help him settle an old score. Fifties-set crime drama, starring Mark Williams.
