Review

You can almost picture it…as the sun sets in the distance behind Glastonbury Tor, hundreds of thousands of glow sticks are held aloft at Worthy Farm in a mass singalong of Fix You.

Yes, sneer all you like at headliners Coldplay (and people do, Chris Martin and his lads are routinely derided as “smug” and “pompous”) but they know how to rise to those big festival moments.

Even if that idealised image doesn’t materialise and it buckets down, Coldplay are bouncy enough and have enough rousing hits to ensure the Glastonbury Festival closes in a warm wash of good feeling and common purpose.

Also on the Pyramid Stage tonight, and on BBC2, are Jeff Lynne’s ELO, while BBC4 will be dropping in on sets from PJ Harvey, Ellie Goulding, Gregory Porter and supreme funksters Earth, Wind and Fire.

Summary

Mark Radcliffe, Lauren Laverne and Jo Whiley present more highlights from the festival, including Jeff Lynne's ELO making a Glastonbury debut on the Pyramid Stage. The programme also features performances by Gregory Porter and Laura Mvula and an acoustic set by Cyndi Lauper, while Gemma Cairney and Martin Dougan report on some of the more obscure areas of the festival.
