Review

This year there are 16 show gardens, five of which have been created by female designers. Among them is Ann-Marie Powell’s Garden for Health, Happiness and Horticulture, a call for us to transform hard grey areas into colourful, living places.

However, the biggest buzz surrounds two-time Chelsea best-in-show winner Cleve West’s Exmoor National Park garden, and “the Damien Hirst of garden design” Diarmuid Gavin’s British Eccentrics Garden, inspired by the gadgetry of Heath Robinson.

The week’s coverage kicks off with Sophie Raworth and Joe Swift giving us a preview of the spectacular gardens we can expect to see – and all without moving from our sofa.
