Review

So all those newspaper reports about how Simon Cowell had banned David Walliams from pressing his golden buzzer for yet another “stupid” novelty act this year were untrue.

David gave Ian and Anne Marshall a pass straight to the live shows for an eccentric rendition of Beyoncé’s Crazy in Love that probably left most of the nine million of us watching at home gobsmacked – and not necessarily in a good way. Even more astounding was Simon’s positive response: “For once, I get it. It’s acts like you that make me love this show.” All we can say is that he’s clearly spending way too much time with his fellow judge.

There are still a few more weeks of auditions before we reach the live shows. What on earth else has BGT got in store for us?

Summary

Ant and Dec introduce more coverage from the nationwide talent show's touring audition stage, now in its fifth week, with the race hotting up to be crowned as the 10th champion in the history of the series. Last week, a teary-eyed Ant and Dec pressed their Golden Buzzer to put 14-year-old singer Jasmine Elcock through to the semi-finals following her powerful rendition of Cher's Believe. Only one golden ticket to the semi's remains, but it is in the hands of notoriously critical show-runner Simon Cowell. Reports suggest his vote will not be going to a singing act this year, but it remains to be seen whether he'll be tempted to push the button this week.
