Review

What a smart broadcaster James Fox is. And I don't mean he's a snappy dresser (although he certainly is that too). He just seems to operate on a higher wavelength than most, and the way he unearths original angles from which to approach the visual arts is always impressive. Here, he explores "art that can't be bought or sold"; art that's made from nature itself, from the ephemeral to the enduring.

One striking example is David Nash's Ash Dome in Snowdonia: a perfect circle made from 22 ash trees that's taken 40 years to evolve into its present form. Peaceful and poetic.

Summary

James Fox journeys through six different landscapes across Britain, meeting artists whose work explores the human relationship with the natural world, from Andy Goldsworthy's stone sculptures to James Turrell's extraordinary Skyspaces.
