Review

It’s the haunted-house romp in which the platoon takes shelter in a deserted mansion one stormy night, and then has to contend with a pack of bloodhounds. In fact the production crew had real problems encouraging the dogs to pursue the men and when they did get going, it was in the wrong direction. At which point John Le Mesurier was heard to say (and it’s so easy to imagine it), “This doesn’t seem to be an entire success.”

Tragically, it was also the last story to feature James Beck as Private Walker: he died at the age of 44.

Summary

On a dark and stormy night, Jonesy's van runs out of petrol and the platoon is forced to spend the night in a spooky deserted house, where the men's imaginations soon run wild. Vintage comedy first aired in 1973, starring Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier and Clive Dunn.
