Series 9 - Episode 6 Never Too Old

Review

And so to the very last episode, first seen by 12.5 million people on Remembrance Sunday, 1977. It was the favourite episode of Pamela Cundell, who played the infamous Mrs Fox. And as director David Croft remembered, "We were very sad. There was hardly a dry eye in the house."

It turns out twinkly Jack Jones has proposed to Mrs Fox, and has a chronic case of the jitters as he awaits her reply. What follows is relaxed and heartfelt, with a breaking of the fourth wall that may leave you with a lump in your throat.

Summary

Lance Corporal Jones finally takes the plunge as he decides to make an honest woman of Mrs Fox. Last-ever episode of the wartime comedy, starring Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier, Clive Dunn, John Laurie and Ian Lavender. First shown in 1977.
