Review
by
Jane Rackham
As the team is in Harrogate, it’s appropriate that that glorious Yorkshire institution - Bettys Tea Room – should feature. The founder of Bettys kept all sorts of memorabilia from when he sailed on Queen Mary’s maiden voyage, which is fortuitous because the Roadshow is planning a special travel-related edition later this year.
Among the other treasures is a diamond-encrusted brooch shaped like a kingfisher, a set of bronze bulldogs and a working model of a mid-19th century factory floor. And for sports fans there’s the history of some very special silverware – which was made in Bradford and is worth a fortune.
Summary
Fiona Bruce and the team head to the Royal Hall in Harrogate, with Alastair Dickenson giving his highest valuation in 20 years on the show. Plus, the emotional story of a sapphire ring left to a young man by a recently departed friend, and the family history behind Betty's Tea Rooms.
