Rue Morgue

Series 3 - Episode 8 Rue Morgue

Thursday 9pm - 10:15pm Alibi

There’s a murder worthy of Jonathan Creek’s attentions on the island of Saint-Marie in the final episode of the series. Former surgeon Emma Redding (Kate Fahy) is found dead in her cabin in a local retirement home. It looks as though she’s taken an overdose, especially as the door was locked and bolted from the inside. But Humphrey and Camille are both convinced otherwise.

There are numerous suspects in the home (Michele Dotrice, Phil Davis, Philip Jackson, Joanna David and Rupert Vansittart are among the guest stars), many of whom have a plausible motive for killing the woman.

However, regular viewers may be distracted by the arrival of Humphrey’s estranged wife, Sally (Morven Christie). He certainly is. Although there were murmurings of discontent when Kris Marshall took over from Ben Miller, he’s charmed most of us, so it looks as though DI Goodman isn’t planning to go back to Blighty just yet.

DI Goodman is called in to investigate the death of former surgeon Emma Redding at a retirement home. With an empty packet of sleeping pills beside her body and her room locked from the inside, it looks like an open-and-shut case of suicide. However, the team discovers everything is not as it seems and mounting evidence suggests she may in fact have been poisoned. Then, a blast from Humphrey's past arrives unexpectedly on the island, and looks set to distract him from solving the case. Guest starring Rupert Vansittart, Joanna David, Phil Davis and Michele Dotrice.
