Series 7 - Episode 6 Murdochophobia

Review

This is a show that usually specialises in neat, relatively bloodless crimes. So the sight of a woman lying dead and covered in blood after throwing herself from a hospital window does come as something of a surprise. But, then, this is an episode that deals in shocks, namely the irrational fears that can drive people to the brink of distraction.

So, did a spider in the victim’s room have something to do with her demise? Why is Murdoch confessing to being scared of butterflies? And will he be able to overcome his phobia with help from Dr Ogden and solve the case within the allotted hour?

Summary

The detective investigates the death of one of Julia's patients, a woman being treated for arachnophobia who broke her neck after apparently leaping from a hospital window. One of Julia's colleagues launches a formal complaint to have her research terminated, believing it to be the cause of the incident. However, Murdoch is convinced a more sinister explanation lies behind the death. Yannick Bisson stars.
