A young naval lieutenant’s apartment is booby-trapped to blow up when the front door is opened. It’s bad luck for the building supervisor, but a good case for the
NCIS
team, especially when they discover that the lieutenant had failed his flight training and had been on the trawl for explosives… Also on the hunt is McGee, who’s lost his ID cards after attending a gig with Abby. This could mean big trouble. But his fevered attempts to find them may lead to a clever solution to the case.
It’s a quietly exciting episode (fighter jets get deployed!) that shows how the series is determined to carry on despite the previous episode’s shock departure. There may be an empty desk in the office, but the team’s work must go on.
Summary
An explosion at an apartment building brings navy officer Terence Keith to the team's attention and it transpires he had been on medication for anxiety, a condition that had led to him being ejected from a pilot's training course. Ducky's profile of Keith suggests that he may be unstable and about to exact revenge for having his dream of becoming a fighter ace taken away from him, and evidence points to him intending to carry out a suicide attack.
