When a messenger brings news from outside the city of her exiled brother Therus, Ariadne (the poised Aiysha Hart) asks muscle-for-hire Jason to escort her to the source. You won’t win a golden fleece for working out who wants to stop her...
A moody instalment, it’s also the weak link in the series so far. There’s little for Robert Emms to do as Pythagoras, and Hercules’s joshing has been reined in (bar some gubbins with a dung beetle). But it confirms our suspicious about the Atlantean hierarchy, while a brief but gripping face-off between Pasiphae (Sarah Parish) and the Oracle (Juliet Stevenson) leaves us wanting more of the same.
A night-time messenger brings news from outside the city for Ariadne, who calls on Jason and his friends to help guide her to its source. But leaving without raising the Queen's suspicions seems like an impossible task - especially when it turns out the one who has written is Therus, Ariadne's exiled brother. As Heptarian and the King's guards close in on his hiding place, Ariadne must decide where her loyalties lie - in
or with her royal sibling. Mark Addy, Jack Donnelly and Aiysha Hart star.
