Summary

Gerald Hadleigh, the secretary of the local writers' circle in the tranquil village of Midsomer Worthy, is found battered to death on the eve of a visit by a best-selling novelist. Barnaby and Troy discover Hadleigh was a mystery man, with no relatives or marriage certificate to match the wedding photo on display in his house. To make matters worse, another body is then found. Mystery, guest starring Anna Massey and Una Stubbs.
