Review

When last we saw our lovable PhDweebs, Leonard had just been headhunted for a far-away science expedition. Now, as season seven opens, his best friend – social hand grenade Sheldon – is trying to comfort Leonard’s girlfriend Penny. Unfortunately Sheldon’s idea of a morale-booster is “At least you’ve got your health”.

Raj, meanwhile, tries out another stinker of a chat-up line. “It was better when you couldn’t talk to women,” comments Howard, who’s managed to make his fringe even less flattering.

What a joy to have our assorted physicists and aerospace engineers (it is rocket science!) back so soon. The show’s winning formula of explosive one-liners and stirring sweetness is as potent as ever.

It’s a hit with the Emmy board and the public alike (the show attracts 20 million in the US and has given E4 some of its best ratings). On a gags-per-minute basis, there are few competitors. It really is a quantum of solace in the schedules.

Summary

Sheldon and Penny bond as they miss Leonard, and Howard tries to help Raj get over his break-up with Lucy. Meanwhile, Bernadette and Amy visit an out-of-town conference. Comedy about four high-achieving scientists, starring Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki.
