BBC3’s bubbly agony aunt turns her attention to a topical problem: housing. According to Healey’s survey, 95 per cent of young people yearn to reach that first rung on the property ladder, and never has it been harder. Happily, advice is on hand: Healey and her helpers are full of practical tips.
We meet a man who pays peanuts to live in a mansion, a woman whose flat-mate is 97 and another in negative equity. The two-parter also weighs up the pros and cons of renting, and investing in an ex-council house. Location, Location, Location for novices, it succeeds in being 95 per cent helpful, and only a teeny bit patronising.
Part one of two. The presenter reveals the results of a nationwide housing survey commissioned by the BBC, and explores the problems young people face with getting on the property ladder. In the first edition, she helps two couples and a pair of friends make savings and manage their finances as they prepare to buy their first homes.
