Agatha Christie's Poirot

Mrs McGinty's Dead

Series 11 - Episode 1 Mrs McGinty's Dead

The fastidious Belgian detective (David Suchet) is urged by a senior police officer to re-examine the evidence in the murder of village charwoman Mrs McGinty in a (very faithful) adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Mrs McGinty’s Dead, first shown in 2008.

Her young lodger has been convicted of the killing and now awaits execution. But the investigating police officer’s conscience is troubling him – he isn’t sure the right man is going to the gallows.

The great delight with Poirot is that you always know exactly what you are going to get – a cast jammed to the rafters with well-known names, high production values and of course the ever-impeccable Suchet as the possessor of those astoundingly efficient little grey cells.

A cleaner is found dead in her home and suspicion immediately falls upon her lodger, who is arrested and convicted of her murder. It appears to be an open-and-shut case, but Superintendent Spence begins to question the man's guilt and invites Poirot to help uncover the identity of the real killer. The Belgian sleuth teams up with crime writer Ariadne Oliver (My Family's Zoe Wanamaker) as he tries to crack the case. Whodunit, starring David Suchet, with Richard Hope, Joe Absolom, Amanda Root, Sian Phillips and Raquel Cassidy.
