Review

The science sitcom about ultra-competitive super-nerds returns after a short break with a refreshing change of pace. It’s all well and good – and it works absolutely fine – when our E=mc squares pretend they don’t care about each other. The insults fly and the gags tick over like a busy Geiger counter. But there’s nothing wrong occasionally with the characters showing that they do. It gives the comedy a bit of extra oomph, as well as warmth. So tonight, Leonard’s imminent surgery to correct a deviated septum brings out a surprising reaction from Sheldon. Even if he expresses it in an unusual way: trying to dissuade his friend from the procedure by calculating the probability of death. Bless him, he even factors in an asteroid strike.

Raj, meanwhile, is distraught to learn that his parents have split up, so Howard and Bernie try to cheer him up — with a batch of muffins.

Summary

Sheldon panics when Leonard announces he has to go into hospital for surgery, and the impending divorce of Raj's parents motivates Howard and Bernadette to work on their own marriage. Comedy, starring Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco.
