Review

Ah, they don’t make Christmas specials like this any more; two middle-aged men, immaculate in suits and ties, pretend spontaneously to burst into festive songs in a pristine Don Draper apartment before sitting down to a turkey dinner à deux.

Frank Sinatra (who acknowledges a sponsor with “my cigarette”) trims the tree with candy canes as Bing Crosby pops by in this 1957 treat. It’s as cheesy as a cheese scone hewn from a cheese mountain but, oh by gosh by golly, those voices.

When they both sing White Christmas as fake snow falls from the heavens, you’ll be in Christmassy pieces. And as for that bit when they open the door and step into a Dickensian scene – how did they do that?!

Summary
