Review

It’s a season finale, but not as we know it. No high-speed action, big climax, or bloody cliffhanger. Instead we get a muted farewell to dear old Jim Brass, the police captain who has been with the show from the first episode. We’ll miss the wry, heavy-set detective who feels as much a part of the show as the Who and aerials of Vegas – though clearly not for the producers.

Brass hears that his daughter Ellie (who you may recall was a prostitute and murderer) has attempted suicide, and heads for her bedside. While he ponders his future, the other CSIs work on an intriguing case involving lost treasure by a remote railway track and a 2,000-year-old stone lion.

Summary

A 25-year-old mystery involving the theft of cash and the death of one of the robbers from gunshot wounds is rekindled when officers discover the bullet-riddled body of one of the witnesses in a location remarkably close to where the original incident occurred. As neither the money nor a lion figurine that was also taken that day were ever recovered, locals become convinced of a connection, and a former detective - obsessed by the case - also makes his presence felt. Elsewhere, Captain Brass handles a personal crisis after his daughter takes an overdose. Treat Williams guest stars, with Ted Danson, Elisabeth Shue and Paul Guilfoyle.
