Review

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Sumptuously filmed against a lovely Cotswolds backdrop, these daytime murder mysteries based on GK Chesterton’s stories are so well-made and well-acted they could happily fit into any Sunday night schedule. This new series started with the wise and wily priest (played beautifully by Mark Williams) investigating the murder of a B-movie director after a film crew came to Kembleford.

Now a dishevelled Sid (Alex Price) wakes up in a caravan to find a beautiful young woman (Rosemary Boyle) hurriedly getting dressed. She is the heiress to a local brewery and as the episode unfolds becomes a murder suspect. Sid knows she is innocent but there's a reason he can't reveal that she spent the night with him.
