Review

Father Brown (Mark Williams) and Lady Felicia (Nancy Carroll) are at the local army barracks for the unveiling of a memorial to the fallen at Dunkirk in this darker-than-usual episode from 2015. They’re told that at Dunkirk the base commander became a hero for allegedly killing several Nazis with his broken sword although over dinner one of his drunken comrades disputes that.

His murder, with the very sword belonging to the colonel, prompts Father Brown to look into this and another death – 13 years earlier. It’s a tough case complicated by the army’s investigating officer’s misplaced suspicions … but it’s only a matter of time before Father Brown cracks it.
