The moment Musharaf conquered his stammer on 2013’s Educating Yorkshire reduced viewers to sobbing wrecks. Now the TV hero is on Channel 4’s dating show, escorted by his lovely teacher Mr Burton, to meet a girl who can accept his unconventional way of speaking. He explains that after the programme everyone assumed he could suddenly speak without faltering but his stammer is still there – he’s just found a better way to manage it.

At the bar, things are less calm. Jess from Made in Chelsea sends her date into such a tizzy that he smashes a glass and sends blood gushing down the bar stool. “I’ll probably run over someone’s dog on the way out,” he says darkly. Meanwhile, weather presenter Siân Lloyd’s opening gambit to her date is, “Has anyone ever told you look like Phil Collins?”
