Primal Scream - Screamadelica

Summary

The making of Primal Scream's seminal 1991 album Screamadelica. The band members explain its inception, and the programme features rare archive performances, with contributions by producer Andrew Weatherall and Creation Records founder Alan McGee.

Review

There's no escaping the fact. Primal Scream's Screamadelica is inextricably linked with ecstasy. Even bassist Henry Olsen's protestations that it is not fall on deaf ears - mainly as he read Classic Car Monthly on the tour bus while the party raged at the back.

The excesses of the time have taken their toll, but there are enough lucid memories to tell the story of how a fateful meeting between acid house DJ Andrew Wetherall and the punk rocky Scream eventually led to the experimental Screamadelica sessions.
