Rating: 3 out of 5.

It’s apt that Baby Spice Emma Bunton visits Southmead Hospital’s maternity unit in Bristol to help raise funds for its charity. Midwife Sacha is volubly excited and even brings in her Emma Bunton doll for the singer to autograph.

But life and births go on, despite such a starry presence. Sarah is having her third baby and her mum won’t stop talking, eventually giving her the helpful information that having a baby is like “pooing a melon”. She also draws parallels with prehistoric times, when women simply gave birth “with the dinosaurs”. Sarah is philosophical: “[Mum] drives me mad but I love her to bits.”

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Tina isn’t sure whether to let her difficult boyfriend attend the birth of her second son.
