Episode 1: The Bots and the Bees

Summary

Fatherhood is unexpectedly thrust upon Bender, and against the odds he's a natural. After a heated encounter with Bev - Professor Farnsworth's drinks machine - the robot is left holding Baby Bender and relishes his new role while it lasts. With the guest voice of Wanda Sykes.

Review

Rating: 3 out of 5.

At this point Futurama has had more endings than Lord of the Rings. The sci-fi comedy has already been cancelled by Fox, brought back as a series of TV movies then given two new seasons on Comedy Central. This series premiere was first shown back in 2012 in America.

The wild Douglas Adams-like invention of the early years has petered out as resources have dwindled, leaving most stories focused on the core cast. Here Bender the robot fathers a child (don’t ask) and is forced to change his ways. You will awww more than laugh, but hopefully the gags pick up in coming episodes. Comedy Central has announced it won’t be renewing and if this is the real, final, actual end, Futurama deserves to go out on a high.
