Episode 11: I Saw You

Summary

Review

Rating: 3 out of 5.

As the season draws to a close (this is the penultimate episode) all of the Girls are treading water, no matter how serene they look on the surface. Marnie is less than satisfied at work and even less so romantically, as she’s fallen for the unavailable Desi, while Shoshanna is winding tighter by the episode and Jessa is, well, Jessa.

It’s Hannah, though, who’s struggling the most. As Adam pulls away from her to focus on his work she becomes increasingly disillusioned with her own job, prompting a hilariously self-regarding rant at a staff meeting: “Am I the only one who prides herself on being a truly authentic person? What is this, a sweatshop factory for puns? Maybe this is a f**king cooler for dead souls?”

But she still manages to support Marnie at an open-mic night, whose performance – probably because it’s alongside Desi – is, for once, not totally embarrassing. “I’m being so supportive,” Hannah tells Elijah, with a self-deprecating eye roll – but that doesn’t last for long when she and Adam make a discovery upon returning home to Ray’s.
