Episode 10: Role-Play

In an effort to reignite their sexual spark, she decides to surprise him with some role play. Review

Rating: 3 out of 5.

There’s turbulence for Hannah and Adam, who have seemed a little too functional recently. He’s absorbed in his new Broadway role, barely noticing when Hannah stays out all night and rejecting her advances because he doesn’t want to be distracted before rehearsals.

His excitement at finally doing something fulfilling is understandable, but so is Hannah’s sense of rejection, and when her attempt to recapture their spark through an elaborate role-play scenario backfires, it’s hard to know which of them we should feel most sorry for.

Elsewhere, Richard E Grant’s Jasper is still hanging around, much to Shoshanna’s annoyance (and mine). She sets up a meeting with Jasper’s estranged daughter (an underused Felicity Jones) in the hope that it will encourage him to get his act together. Somehow the resulting scene manages to make both Jasper and Jessa even more infuriating, but perhaps that’s the point. And poor old Marnie, once again, is an afterthought.
