Episode 10: Wild Justice

Summary

The detectives are asked to carry out a preliminary investigation into a corrupt senior officer who may have suppressed evidence when a notorious crime boss was put away for murdering a prominent doctor. However, Sasha feels torn because she is almost certain that eight years earlier the convict in question also killed her CID partner. Meanwhile, Steve gets a shock when his estranged son turns up at work to see him. Tamzin Outhwaite and Denis Lawson star.

Review

Rating: 3 out of 5.

If it were a football club, New Tricks could be said to have had a good spell in the transfer market. Nicholas Lyndhurst as Danny has proved a useful playmaker and new signing Tamzin Outhwaite as Sasha looks at home leading the line. Still, the team end the season with a slightly disappointing performance.

Ucos has to reinvestigate a case involving a career criminal (played by the excellent Ralph Brown, sadly underused here) who killed Sasha’s cop partner some years ago. The case involves oncologists and cancer charities and for some reason, they only have 24 hours to crack it. Then Steve (Denis Lawson) gets a surprise when his estranged son turns up prompting painfully awkward scenes – and no sympathy from Danny.
