Starting where his French Odyssey left off, Rick Stein travels around the coastlines and islands of the Mediterranean in this glorious, cheerfully escapist 2007 series, which began a rerun on Sunday.

Having yesterday hopped on the ferry to Sicily where, in Palermo, he found one of the best pasta dishes he had ever tasted, today he heads east to Catania with its stunning fish market. Then it’s back on the ferry to the mainland and Puglia, where centuries of poverty have fostered creativity in the kitchen. Tomorrow he’s in Corfu.
