Summary
Exploring the remote rainforests of the Congo and meeting the tribes that live there. Ben Fogle experiences the vibrant culture that makes the country the 'beating heart of Africa'. Ben arrives in the capital Brazzaville where he prepares for a two-day journey into the wilderness to visit one of the longest-surviving cultures in the world, the Mbendjele BaYaka tribe living deep in the jungle in traditional huts made from leaves

Channel 5 have again pulled their favourite trick of hitting pause on a series mid-season. Presumably Ben Fogle’s New Lives in the Wild will pop back onto Tuesday nights at some point, but in the meantime, all is not lost…
This new series finds the most English of adventurers plunged into the most exotic of locations, like a very polite Indiana Jones. Or should that be Bruce Parry? Episode one brings back memories of the brilliant BBC series Tribe, as Ben ventures deep into the jungle to hang out with the semi-nomadic Mbendjele BaYaka people. The welcome he gets from them is magical.
