Episode 9: The Grim Reaper

Summary

A death on a local farm is blamed on a Kembleford doctor through a series of poison pen letters, and Father Brown must try to find out who sent them to save his friend from the gallows. Fifties-set crime drama, starring Mark Williams and Sorcha Cusack

Review

Alfred Tatton (Adam Long) is woken from a drunken slumber by his father John (David Troughton) shouting that the boy’s a disgrace, lazy with a streak of self-destruction reminiscent of his mother. Surprising them both, Alfred fights back and threatens his dad with some farm machinery. But it doesn’t end there as they later have a very public bust-up at the surgery of Dr Adam Crawford (James Fleet).

Some time later, Father Brown (Mark Williams) visits the farm to find it deserted and silent, except for the rhythmic sound of a choked threshing machine. What he discovers there could send one of his parishioners to the gallows.
