Episode 6: Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing

Summary

Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer fish for chub on the river Wye in Herefordshire, Bob making an unexpected arrival by rowing boat. They are joined on today's trip by Dr Anand Patel from the Centre for Men's Health for a discussion of medical matters, and spend the night in a converted dovecote in the idyllic grounds of a 700-year-old manor house

Review

Just when you think Bob and Paul might be running out of steam, they hit you with another sweet, touching, funny riverbank reverie. They’re on the Lower Wye for the last programme of the series, hoping to catch chub.
As they sit by their rods, they chat about looking at old photographs and cherishing old memories. Paul says he finds old pictures of his children “almost too painful to revisit”, which sparks a conversation about living in the moment that in turn feeds into a later discussion about men’s mental health and the importance of friendship – and suddenly the waters they’re wading in are deeper than they look.
