Summary
"How London Was Built" finds historian and cycling enthusiast Adam Hart-Davis exploring the city's landmarks and architectural past. Among other activities, he visits palatial buildings old and new, including Hampton Court and the new Wembley Stadium; examines Christopher Wren's obsession with domes; charts the growth of Harrods from a small grocery shop into a department store; examines the role played by bridges across the Thames; and investigates the capital's infamous jails, including the Tower of London and Wandsworth prison. It premiered on ITV London in 2005 and ran for three series. It has also been seen on the History channel.
