Summary

The Sharmas discover what life was like for South Asian families who settled in Britain in the past 70 years, beginning with getting a taste of the 1950s. Guiding them on their journey are BBC Asian Network presenter Noreen Khan and historian Yasmin Khan, whose own family members both migrated from Pakistan in the latter half of the 20th century. Mum Manisha and 20-year-old Alisha join the men at their lodgings, bringing home comforts and vital kitchen equipment
