Summary

"The Cube" is a game show hosted by Phillip Schofield that requires contestants to enter a transparent plastic arena that houses increasingly difficult games. The challenges look simple enough at first glance, but the confined space and sense of pressure makes successful completion much harder for those taking part. Typical feats include balancing on one leg, trying to get a ball in a net or catching objects fired at odd angles. Participants start with 'nine lives' and lose a life each time they fail a challenge. The money on offer steadily increases with each new challenge, starting at £1,000 and rising to a potential £250,000, but if participants lose all their lives without retiring voluntarily, they leave with nothing. It premiered on ITV1 in 2009.
