Episode 15: The X Factor

Summary

As one door closes, another door opens - singing duo Bratavio have been voted off, but this week sees the return of girl group Four of Diamonds, who narrowly missed out at Louis's judges' house and now rejoin the competition in place of Brooks Way. This week the acts perform classic Motown songs in front of judges and mentors Simon Cowell (girls), Nicole Scherzinger (boys), Louis Walsh (groups) and Sharon Osbourne (over-25s) - as well as millions of viewers at home - and once this latest round of performances are out of the way, Dermot O'Leary entrusts the would-be stars' fate to viewers as the public vote opens.

Review

Another week, another new X Factor gimmick. First the powers that be sent contestants running at a Wall of Songs to get the winning lyrics at boot camp, and now they’re essentially spinning a wheel to see what they’ll sing next. Or rather, a “special guest” is doaing it for them.

This new X Factor jukebox throws out all manner of themes from boy band v girl band to disco, Motown and divas. But let’s face it, the one we’re all holding out hope for is the Louis Walsh-themed “Louis Loves”. It’s been far too long since someone made the most of a key change by jumping up off a stool.
