Episode 19: The X Factor

Summary

Last Sunday, Relley C faced Four of Diamonds in the sing-off and it was the solo singer who got the boot. Now, the battle for a music career continues as the budding pop stars take on Fright Night songs - just ahead of Halloween. Expect the usual confrontations and bickering as judges and mentors Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh fiercely defend their remaining contestants and critique the others - although whether any glasses of water will be thrown remains to be seen. Dermot O'Leary keeps the peace.

Review

X Factor’s new giant jukebox – now used “randomly” to select the next weekend’s theme – nearly picked Fright Night a week too early a fortnight ago. Thankfully, whoever was powering it (we like to imagine it’s Olly Murs, pedalling a little bicycle) gave it a kick to make sure it doled out Divas for last Saturday’s show instead.

But if tonight ain’t Fright Night, something’s not right because Halloween weekends wouldn’t be the same without wannabe pop acts bopping out of coffins, creepily crooning Shakespears Sister songs (remember Cher Lloyd’s take on Stay?), and giving die-hard Ghostbusters fans something worth complaining about à la Jedward.
