Summary
"SpongeBob SquarePants" is an American animated series following the adventures of the title character and his friends in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob lives in a two-storey pineapple next door to Squidward Tentacles, a miserable octopus who resides in an Easter Island head and works with SpongeBob in a fast food restaurant owned by the greedy Mr Krabs. SpongeBob is joined in his adventures by best friend Patrick, a dull-witted starfish; an athletic squirrel called Sandy; and his pet snail Gary, who meows like a cat. Whether it is trying to find the perfect spatula for burger flipping or trying to get rid of flu using unorthodox methods, SpongeBob faces every challenge with an eternal optimism that drives the residents of Bikini Bottom mad. The hugely popular series premiered in 1999. Big-screen offering, "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie", was released in 2004.
