Summary

"Room 101" is a comedy panel show in which well-known faces reveal the people and things they hate the most and try to banish them into a mythical Room 101, named after the torture chamber in George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. It is left to the host to decide which suggestions are cast into the room. Nick Hancock was the original host when the series premiered on BBC Two in 1994. Paul Merton took over presenting duties in 1999 and his tenure ran until 2007 when the series was rested. It returned with a revamped format in January 2012 with new host Frank Skinner tasked with refereeing three well-known faces in each edition as they compete for his approval to banish their top peeve, annoyance, irritation or worst nightmare.
