Episode 7: First Dates

Summary

Italian restaurant-owner Giovanni, 61, who has been single for nearly 20 years meets 54-year-old plumber's mate June. Other dating diners include Tyrone, a 33-year-old prison officer with ADHD. He meets Jason, a retail manager who wants some fire in his life

Review

We generally do want a happy ever after for the dates on this show but who doesn’t get a delicious feeling of schadenfreude when it goes awry?

We’re reminded in this compilation of some truly awkward moments. Remember how disappointed Disney superfan James was when his date Jess dashed his hopes of a fairy-tale romance? And how Demi’s insistent probing of Danny’s “live for the moment” philosophy revealed awful trauma in his past?

The disagreements over who pays the bill are often embarrassing but the worst example of that was when Steve, clearly horrified at how much it was, eventually mumbled something about going dutch. Even waitress Laura was cringeing.
