Review

In 2009 Gary Barlow organised a fundraising concert at the Royal Albert Hall, which was hosted by, among other people, Children in Need figurehead Terry Wogan. This time, following the broadcaster’s death in January, the fundraiser is dedicated to him and between performances there are archive clips of his career and a wonderful reminder of the innuendo-laden Janet and John stories that delighted his Radio 2 listeners.

Take That, Ellie Goulding, Gregory Porter, Rick Astley and Alfie Boe (giving a fantastic rendition of the Floral Dance) performed at the concert, recorded earlier this month. But the main attention was on Beverley Knight, who almost fainted on stage. It’s unlikely we’ll see that, though, as she returned to the stage later to finish her performance of I Will Always Love You.
